Vinai Venkatesham has hailed Roberto De Zerbi’s impact at Tottenham.

Tottenham Hotspur chief executive Vinai Venkatesham has paid a glowing tribute to Roberto De Zerbi following the club’s Premier League survival, describing the Italian’s impact since his arrival in late March as extraordinary and making clear that the board’s confidence in their head coach is total as the summer rebuild begins in earnest.

Venkatesham’s words carry particular weight given the context in which they are delivered. De Zerbi inherited a club in 18th place, with one point in thirteen league games in 2026, a dressing room described by multiple sources as fractured and low on belief, an injury list that at its worst stretched to eight first-team players simultaneously, and barely two weeks of training before his first match. That he guided the club to safety with seven points from his last seven Premier League fixtures represents one of the more remarkable short-term managerial interventions the top flight has seen in recent years. “I think he has made an extraordinary impact so far. We have to recognise that it’s early days, and we also need to recognise that he’s come into a very specific situation.
