Thomas Frank created headlines last week when Tottenham Hotspur appointed him as Ange Postecoglou’s successor.
The Danish tactician spent seven years at Brentford, establishing them as a Premier League side after gaining promotion from the Championship in 2021. He worked extremely hard to cement the Bees as a mid-table team with limited budget.
Having done so well at the Gtech Community Stadium and developed so many players, it is hardly a surprise that some Brentford stars have been linked to a reunion with Thomas Frank at Spurs. And one of those players is Bryan Mbeumo.
Bryan Mbeumo was a standout performer for Brentford this past season, netting 20 goals Premier League goals in 38 appearances. He forged a mouthwatering partnership with Yoane Wissa up top following Ivan Toney’s departure to Saudi Arabia last summer, and the African duo ripped apart teams left right and centre with their pace, dynamism, creativity and goalscoring ability.
This has led to the Cameroonian international attracting significant interest from Manchester United. Tottenham have made a £70million bid for Bryan Mbeumo, but latest developments mean they are now unlikely to pursue a deal further.
According to journalist Rudy Galetti, Spurs have cooled their interest in Mbeumo after learning that the player has his heart set on a move to Manchester United. At this stage, the North London club feel it is impossible to overtake Man United in the race for the forward’s signing.

Mbeumo has established himself as one of the highly productive forwards in the Premier League in the last few seasons. The 25-year-old’s attributes on and off the ball, coupled with his ability to operate across the front line, has made him an appealing target for the Premier League bigwigs. He would improve any English top-flight side with his qualities, and it looks like the African star is will head to Man United if they can agree a fee with the Bees.
With Frank aiming to reshape the squad ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, Tottenham are exploring the market for attacking options. This is owing to the problems the Lilywhites faced in attack in patches last season, and particularly now with Son Heung-min’s future uncertain, the Dane’s squad desperately needs a quality forward.
For now, a move for Mbeumo should be considered off the charts unless there is a dramatic late twist and he decides to snub Man United for Spurs. It will be in Tottenham’s best interests to shift their focus to alternative targets like Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo.
