Tottenham Hotspur have now been linked with a move for the Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres.

The Swedish international is expected to leave the Portuguese club this summer, and several top clubs have been linked with him. Former Tottenham scout Bryan King has now tipped the North Londoners to join the race for the 26-year-old.

Tottenham wanted to sign Gyokeres at the start of the season as well.

Spurs to join the race?

“I’ve seen Gyokeres’ name brandished around with Manchester United and Arsenal,” King said to Tottenham News.

“I think Tottenham could compete with Arsenal for a player such as this. It would be surprising if he doesn’t end up at Manchester United, given his connection with Ruben Amorim.

“This is a player who has scored a lot of goals in Portugal and England. Therefore, if Tottenham want to sign him, they will face serious competition.”

Tottenham need Viktor Gyokeres

Gyokeres is undoubtedly one of the best strikers in the world right now, and he could prove to be an exceptional acquisition for Spurs if they can get the deal done.

Dominic Solanke has had a mixed debut campaign with Tottenham, and they need more support in the attack. The Swedish international could transform them going forward. He is currently averaging more than a goal per game this season (53 goals in 51 games), and there is no doubt that he has the quality to thrive in the Premier League.

However, he will be an expensive acquisition and remains to be seen whether Tottenham are prepared to break the bank for him.

Also, they might need to secure Champions League qualification in order to attract a player of his ability. The 26-year-old will want to compete at the highest level and fight for major trophies. Spurs need to win the UEFA Europa League final to secure Champions League qualification and convince elite players to join them.
