Tottenham dealt blow in their pursuit of highly-rated French attacker

Bayern Munich winger Mathys Tel has been linked with a move away from the German club.

However, the 18-year-old has now committed his long-term future to the club, according to Bundesliga.com.

The development will come as a major blow for clubs like Tottenham Hotspur. The London outfit were keen on signing the talented, young attacker at the end of the season along with Manchester United as per BILD via SportWitness.

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham decide to move on to other targets in the summer. It is no secret that they need to bring in packing reinforcements and the Frenchman would have been a superb long-term addition.

Tel has struggled for regular game time at the German club but he has chosen to commit his long-term future to the club. It remains to be seen how the situation develops.

The Frenchman will have certainly received gametime assurances before committing his future to the club. It will be interesting to see if he can get ample first-team opportunities in the coming months.

Meanwhile, Tottenham need a versatile attacker who can slot in anywhere across the front three and chip in with goals and creativity. They are yet to replace Harry Kane properly and it remains to be seen whether they can bring in the right reinforcements at the end of the season.

They are currently pushing for Champions League qualification and they could be an attractive destination for players if they manage to finish in the top four this season.
