Tottenham must move quickly if they want to sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the summer

Tottenham need a new striker that could partner up with Dominic Solanke in attack. The Lilywhites were lacking serious firepower up front last season, with the Spurs No.19 finding it tough to hold up the position alone in absence of a good cover. With the new season just on the horizon, the North London club must make sure that Solanke is forced to compete for a spot in the starting eleven under Thomas Frank.

Daniel Levy can bring in a new striker only if Spurs sanction the sale of Richarlison. The Brazil international has massively underperformed during his time at N17, and it looks like his race is run at Hotspur Way. After arriving from Everton in 2022, the fans had high hopes that the 28-year-old would replicate the same form while donning the Lilywhite jersey.

But it has not quite worked out for the Spurs No.9. In fact, Richarlison has failed to force his way into the starting eleven under various managers at Tottenham. His constant injury concerns and lack of consistency midway through the season forced him to fall down the pecking order under Ange Postecoglou as well.

Tottenham must fend off other suitors to land Dominic Calvert-Lewin

It is certain that Richarlison will be heading for pastures new in the summer as Tottenham look to generate funds for new signings. The Brazil international is linked with a move to Vasco De Gama, and it is believed that the transfer might go through if the 28-year-old gives the greenlight for the clubs to proceed with negotiations.

Daniel Levy has already identified a replacement that could make life easier for Dominic Solanke and give him cover when needed. It was reported earlier that Spurs are interested in signing Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the summer. The England international left Everton earlier this month after his contract ended, and he is now a free agent. The report added that the 28-year-old is also open to the move as he looks to rejuvenate his career.

But Tottenham are not the only ones willing to land the ex-Everton star. As per CaughtOffside, Manchester United are also looking to add the prolific striker to their ranks as the search for a new number nine continues for Ruben Amorim. The report also adds that Calvert-Lewin is asking for £100,000 per week, which is deemed to be a lot for the Lilywhites and Man United.

It remains to be seen how the transfer saga involving Dominic Calvert-Lewin evolves. There are other strikers in the market that would be a better fit at N17 than the ex-Everton star. The England international is injury-prone, and it is fair to say that he looks past his best now. Not only that, but his ability to make an impact in consecutive games is quite limited.
