The potential departure of Victor Osimhen from Galatasaray, where he is on loan from Italian giants Napoli, has potentially triggered a fascinating game of musical chairs. The 26-year-old Nigerian ace has been offered a deal of a lifetime by Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal. A package worth €40 million a year over the next three years, with an additional option for an additional year, has been mooted.

There was talk at one stage of Victor heading to North London, but William Gallas believed Osimhen’s personality would be a problem for Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta…

“Victor Osimhen is a top-class striker, but I could see him clashing with Mikel Arteta,”

…the Frenchman recently told the press.

According to Turkish outlet Posta, the name in the frame to replace Osimhen, should he take the eye-watering offer, is now other than Tottenham’s hit man, Richarlison.

Historically, Tottenham have traded with Turkish sides, and it has provided both parties with acceptable levels of success. Most recently, Tanguy Ndombele enjoyed his time in Turkey.

The report from Posta adds that the Spur board would be happy to loan or sell the player this summer.

Our view on the exit of a fan favourite

The Brazilian striker came to Spurs brimming with expectation. Richarlison has completed his move from Everton to Tottenham in a £60m deal at a time when Everton’s finances were under the spotlight of the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules. That was three years ago, on a five-year deal that has largely been less than desirable.

The player has not played consistently, suffered from injury and even been referred for mental health counselling. The fans immediately took to Richie, and his pigeon celebration, whilst rarely being required, was greeted enthusiastically.

Ultimately, the goals didn’t come, and what was supposed to be a rebirth ended up being somewhat of a swansong.

It would be best for all parties if this unique opportunity were to materialise.
