More misery for Igor Tudor and Tottenham as things went downhill right after Spurs took the lead against Crystal Palace. To be more precise, it was Palace who led through Sarr, but the goal was ruled out by VAR after a long check. Minutes later, Dominic Solanke gave Tottenham the lead with a clever finish. But a moment of madness from Micky van de Ven, saw him getting sent off, and also give away a penalty.
Sarr converted from the sport, and minutes later, a brilliant Wharton move saw Jørgen Strand Larsen execute a neat finish to give Palace the lead. Another moment of brilliance from Wharton put Sarr one-on-one with the keeper for a short moment, as the latter expertly put the ball behind a rushing Vicario to make it 3-1.
That said, here are the player ratings for Tottenham stars at half-time against Crystal Palace:
Made an impressive early save just minutes into the match. Was clearly beaten by Sarr in the penalty, and was megged by Larsen for the finish. Could have done
Wasn’t at his commanding best.
Probably the best among the bad backline that has started today.
Absolutely poor decision-making from the Dutchman. His red card has put Tottenham in all sorts of troubles.
Poor outing for the Spaniard. Below average on all fronts.
His brilliant movement in the corner of the box, set up Solanke’s goal. One of the few decent players on the pitch for Spurs this evening.
Wasn’t commanding in the midfield at all. Couldn’t bail out Tel’s poor pass that led to Palace’s second goal. Was booked as well.
Couldn’t impress in his first start for the club in the PL. Also got booked early for a tackle on Munhoz. Was hooked before half-time following Van de Ven’s red.
Couldn’t shield the ball well at all. Another dismal performance.
Tried to make things happen early on, and it was his hard work that won Tottenham the corner, from which they eventually scored. However, his poor pass put Sarr under pressure and the ball eventually got to Wharton, who then worked his magic.
A neat, clever finish from him gave Tottenham the lead.
