The summer window is approaching quickly and major decisions are unfolding at Manchester United, with several player situations now reaching a breaking point.
Squad reshaping is expected, and the club are preparing to make firm calls on those currently away from Old Trafford.
One of the most high-profile cases has now taken a decisive twist, with developments pointing towards a clear outcome.
The future of Marcus Rashford is once again up in the air, but this time with a new Premier League angle emerging.
According to SPORT, Tottenham Hotspur are now being linked with genuine interest in the 28-year-old, with the report suggesting they could explore a move once his loan spell concludes.
It remains unclear whether Spurs would pursue a loan or a permanent transfer, and crucially, the origins of these reports are not fully verified, there is no certainty whether they stem from sources close to Rashford’s camp, Tottenham themselves, or wider speculation circulating in England.
Any potential deal would also hinge on Tottenham’s survival, as they remain in a relegation battle despite picking up their first league win of 2026 recently.
If they avoid the drop, their hierarchy is expected to invest in key additions, with Marcus Rashford potentially viewed as a statement signing.
This emerging interest comes at a time when Rashford’s situation with Barcelona has taken a major turn.
The forward had been open to staying at Camp Nou beyond his loan spell and has reportedly been happier than ever during his time in Spain, but the deal is now collapsing from Barcelona’s side.
The issue centres around the £25.8 million (€30m) option to buy.
Manchester United have remained firm, demanding the full pre-agreed fee, while Barcelona have been unwilling to match it, preferring either a reduced transfer or another loan.
Now, reports indicate the La Liga leaders have completely abandoned their pursuit, deciding the fee is too high given their current priorities.
Barcelona are instead focusing on signing a new striker and a left-footed centre-back, with Rashford no longer viewed as essential to their plans.
Financial factors, including his high wages, have also played a role in that decision.
On the pitch, Rashford showed flashes of quality.
He made a strong start to the campaign, scoring 10 goals by January and even winning La Liga Goal of the Month for April.
However, his form dipped in the latter stages, adding just two more goals while covering for the injured Raphinha.
Despite that inconsistency, he still has a good return with 13 goals and 13 assists across all competitions, a solid return considering he never fully locked down a starting spot.
With Barcelona stepping away, it is now seen as almost certain that Rashford will return to Old Trafford on June 30.
From there, Manchester United are expected to explore fresh exit opportunities rather than immediately reintegrating him into the squad.
And with Tottenham now entering the conversation, the next chapter of Rashford’s future could unfold much closer to home than many initially expected.
