Manchester United had been busy assessing midfield options as Ruben Amorim looked to strengthen his squad’s engine room, but those plans have shifted following his recent sacking, with the club now reassessing their priorities.

Across the league, clubs have been scrambling to add depth in central areas, with injuries and fatigue piling up in the congested winter schedule.

Conor Gallagher has emerged as one of the options, impressing with his driving runs, pressing intensity, and goal contributions.

United had reportedly been eager to explore a potential move, seeing Gallagher as a dynamic option capable of fitting into their high-energy midfield system.

With the transfer window in full swing, the race for top talent has become increasingly competitive.

It has now been confirmed that Conor Gallagher has completed a move to Tottenham Hotspur, as announced on their official website.

Revealing their newest signing, a statement from Spurs read: “

Tottenham Hotspur are delighted to announce the signing of Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid, subject to international clearance.”

“The 25-year-old England international has signed a long-term contract with the Club.”

The deal marks a major coup for Spurs as they strengthen their midfield options for the remainder of the season, adding a player with Premier League experience and the versatility to play across central and attacking midfield roles.

Conor Gallagher, who has previously impressed during loan spells at Crystal Palace and Chelsea, brings creativity, tenacity, and the ability to influence games in the final third.

Manchester United had been one of the clubs keen to secure Gallagher’s signature, seeing him as a potential reinforcement capable of energising their midfield and adding another goal threat.

Despite United’s interest, Tottenham moved quickly to agree terms with Gallagher.

Speaking for the first time as a new Tottenham Hotspur player, the former England international commented: “I’m so happy and excited to be here, taking the next step in my career at an amazing club.”

He continued: “I wanted to be a Spurs player and thankfully the Club felt the same. It was very easy, it happened very quickly and I’m ready to get on the pitch.

“I know how great the fans are, I’m really happy to be a part of it here and want to create special moments and memories together.”

Gallagher’s arrival gives Tottenham increased options as they prepare for the second half of the Premier League campaign, while Manchester United will need to refocus on other midfield targets.

The 23-year-old’s pace, work rate, and direct style are expected to make an immediate impact at Tottenham.
