Tottenham initiate late move to sign 30-year-old 'intelligent' Premier League star

Tottenham Hotspur are plotting a late move for the Manchester City defender Manuel Akanji.

The 30-year-old has been linked with a move away from Manchester City, owing to the lack of time. He needs to play more often at this stage of his career, and Tottenham might be able to provide him with that opportunity. According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham have made their approach, and it remains to be seen whether they can get the deal done.

Tottenham could use Manuel Akanji

The player has shown his quality in the Premier League over the years, and he has been labelled as an “intelligent” defender by Pep Guardiola.

There is no doubt that he has the quality to thrive at Tottenham, and it will be interesting to see if the north London club can get the deal done. They will face competition from AC Milan as well. 

The Swiss international is certainly good enough to play regularly in the Premier League, and he could be an asset for Tottenham. He might be available for a reasonable amount of money, and it could be a deal worth doing. Tottenham need more quality and depth in the squad, especially now that they are in the UEFA Champions League. 

Akanji could help Spurs improve

The 30-year-old has the quality and the experience to help them improve, and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham can convince him to join the club. The Swiss International could be tempted to join them. It would allow him to continue in the Premier League and compete at a high level. 

Beating AC Milan to his signature should not be too difficult for Tottenham, especially if they are willing to provide him with ample game time. They have the resources to get the deal across the line.
