Tottenham Hotspur have adopted this approach for preparing for the future, where we have seen the North Londoners sign some highly acclaimed talents and develop them into their potential at Hotspur Way.
It is something that Daniel Levy put across in what was a massive transfer strategy change across the club. He wanted to create a pipeline from the academy to the first team that a lot of elite clubs in Europe boast. By doing so, you get players ready to make an impact in the first team, but they are already accustomed to the culture at the club.
That is where we saw the Lilywhites make commendable investments in the likes of Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall, and Luka Vuskovic. And now, by the looks of it, the decision-makers who took over the reins from Levy are preparing to follow in his footsteps as they look to sign one of Africa’s most exciting teenage forwards.
According to TEAMtalk, 15-year-old Burkina Faso striker Loukman Tapsoba, who has already been likened to Didier Drogba, has ended up on the target list at N17.
It is not only Tottenham, though. Multiple European giants have been pushing to land his services ahead of a possible 2027 transfer. English duo Chelsea and Manchester United are seen as possible contenders from the English top tier alongside Tottenham, who are said to be among a long list of clubs that have been “doing their checks” on the Real du Faso academy talent. The likes of Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, PSG, Marseille, RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund and Juventus have also been looking to secure his signature.
Now that is some Royal Rumble-like pay-per-view contest for someone who cannot leave his homeland for at least another couple of years.
Looking at the number of clubs lining up for his signatures, this one is going to get more about power than about poise (by the looks of it). We know that Tottenham have been putting a lot of emphasis on identifying elite young talent and bringing them to N17 early.
But with this lot of clubs interested, it does look quite difficult for the Lilywhites to get his signature, given that all of them would present a pathway into the first team (just like Tottenham would). There are a few clubs where it would come a bit down the line, then Spurs, but there will also be few who would have him in the first team straight away.
