Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez has been linked with a move away from the club during the summer window.

The 22-year-old is a player in demand, and clubs like Chelsea, Newcastle United, Bayern Munich, Tottenham, and Manchester United are looking to sign him before the window closes, as per CaughtOffside.

Barcelona not ready to let Lopez leave

However, Barcelona are reluctant to let the player move on. The 22-year-old is unlikely to force an exit from his boyhood club either. It will be interesting to see if any of the aforementioned clubs come forward with a proposal to get the deal done.

Chelsea are currently front-runners to sign the player. They are prepared to quadruple his wages to get the deal done.

Spurs could use Fermin Lopez

Meanwhile, Tottenham could use a player of his quality as well. The 22-year-old is capable of operating centrally as an attacking midfielder as well as a wide player. He will add goals and creativity to the side. Tottenham need more technical ability in the final third, and Lopez fits the profile.

James Maddison is sidelined with an injury right now, and Tottenham need an alternative. They have already signed Xavi Simons, but they could use more depth in that area of the pitch. Lopez would be a long-term acquisition for them. It will be interesting to see if they can beat their rivals to his signature.

Tottenham have done well to bring talented young players in recent windows, and it is clear that they are looking to build a squad for the future. Lopez would add to the formidable pool of young talent at the club. The opportunity to play in the Premier League can be quite exciting for most players, and it remains to be seen how the situation develops. The transfer window closes tomorrow evening, and Tottenham will need to act quickly.
