Regardless of Tottenham Hotspur’s Europa League success in May, there’s no escaping the harsh reality that a major squad overhaul is essential this summer.
Spurs have a new head coach in place in the form of Thomas Frank, who will be under pressure to hit the ground running. Daniel Levy is yet to act decisively in the transfer market and back Thomas Frank with quality signings. Without significant changes to the squad that finished just above the relegation zone, Levy is preparing the Danish tactician to fail at the club.
The Hotspur Way chiefs want to offload a few underperforming players from the squad and replace them with new, exciting talents. Yves Bissouma falls into that category.
Spurs are open to offers for Yves Bissouma with a several clubs keeping an eye on his situation in North London. Fenerbahce boss Jose Mourinho has identified him as a potential replacement for Fred, while Everton have been linked with a move for the combative midfielder.
Juventus are the latest club to be credited with an interest in the Tottenham man. General Director Damien Comolli aims to leverage his excellent relationship with Levy to secure the signing of the Malian international. Juventus are planning for a midfield restructuring and would want to make Bissouma a part of their new setup.
Yves Bissouma would be interested in joining the Turin giants
According to former scout Mick Brown, Bissouma’s agents are busy finding him a new home as he is not the type of player that fits into Frank’s system. The 28-year-old would be interested in testing himself in Serie A, playing for a big club and in European competitions. He feels if the Turin giants make an offer that Tottenham find it appealing, he would want to make that move.
“I think Yves Bissouma is a very good player,” Mick Brown exclusively told Football Insider.
“But from what I hear, he’s not really the type of player Thomas Frank likes to use. Tottenham are going to be open to offers for him and there are a few clubs having a look, because his agent has been working to find him a move.
“One of those clubs is Juventus, who have been looking at him for a while. I can see him doing well in Italian football because the assets he’s got and the way he plays would be a good fit for the pace of the game over there. It’s something he would be interested in as well.
“He’ll still be playing for a big club and in European competitions, but it’s a fresh start away from Spurs where things have never quite gone right for him. If they make an offer which Tottenham deem acceptable, and talks are underway, he will want to make that move.”
Recent reports suggest Spurs are ready to let Bissouma leave for offers in the region of €15-20m. The African midfielder’s signing has not worked out well for the North Londoners, and after three years of inconsistent, erratic displays, the club are ready to take a financial hit on him to make space for young talent.
The Hotspur Way bosses will hope the low valuation placed on the player encourages Juventus to make a move.
