It appears that the North Londoners are well placed to challenge for European spots in the coming months. Tottenham are now hoping to sign long-term target Savinho in the coming weeks. The Lilywhites attempted to land the Brazilian international last summer, but the deal collapsed after Pep Guardiola made it clear that he wanted to keep hold of the talented winger. As a result, the 22-year-old signed a two-year contract extension with the Citizens, keeping him at the Etihad Stadium until 2031.

However, a lack of game time and untimely injuries have disrupted his development at Manchester City. He featured in only 36 matches across all competitions last season, with most of his appearances coming from the bench during the latter stages of games. Therefore, recent reports suggest that Savinho has informed City of his desire to leave the club as he looks to reignite his career elsewhere. He has slipped down the pecking order at the Etihad Stadium and wants regular football to prove his worth in the Premier League.

It comes as no surprise that Spurs are closely monitoring his situation at the Etihad Stadium. As per Ben Jacobs (via X), Savinho has already made it clear that he wants to move to N17, with Roberto de Zerbi also giving the green light for his signature. However, there is still work to be done before the Lilywhites can finalise the deal. Jacobs also reports that the move depends entirely on Manchester City’s board changing their stance on the Brazilian. In addition, the club are expected to find a replacement before allowing the 22-year-old to move on in the coming weeks.

As we all know by now, Savinho would be an excellent addition at N17. The talented winger could establish himself as the club’s first-choice left-winger under Roberto de Zerbi next season. He is a direct winger who enjoys isolating defenders and putting them under pressure in one-on-one situations. His end product in front of goal still needs refining, but the 22-year-old has plenty of time to fulfil his immense potential at Spurs. He would thrive in quick transitions and possesses the quality to unlock stubborn low-block defences.
