Tottenham are weighing up a summer bid for Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze

Tottenham Hotspur have to failed to build on Ange Postecoglou’s first season at N17 and are on course to finish just a spot above the relegation zone.

Daniel Levy has to be ruthless when it comes to offloading players in the summer. Every single area of the pitch needs reinforcing after a campaign that was beset with injuries and hugely inconsistent displays. The midfield unit could witness some big changes before the new season arrives.

Spurs are expecting Rodrigo Bentancur and Yves Bissouma to depart the club when the transfer window opens. Bentancur is on the radar of Atletico Madrid, whereas Bissouma is linked with a move to Aston Villa after enduring a tough individual campaign.

The Lilywhites needs to add some more creative players to its ranks in the summer. James Maddison is the only creative midfielder in the squad, and Ange Postecoglou’s side rely much on the England international’s flair and vision to unlock rigid defences. As a result, Tottenham have already started identifying potential talent who could improve the squad.

It was reported earlier this year that the North London outfit were interested in signing Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze in the summer. The England international has been in scintillating form this season, netting 12 goals and assisting a further 11 times in 40 games across all competitions. He has been among the key performers in the Eagles run-in to the FA Cup final, where they will face Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City later this month.

Eberechi Eze seems like the kind of top talent that Crystal Palace might struggle to keep hold of for a long time. It certainly makes sense that the versatile attacker is going to be on the move sooner rather than later, especially with him set to hit the peak stages of his career. So, Daniel Levy will need to act quick to secure a deal for the Greenwich-born talent.

According to an exclusive report from Football Insider, Tottenham are plotting a low-ball offer to sign Eze from Palace this summer. The English playmaker has a £68million release clause in his contract at Selhurst Park, but it is believed Spurs are considering offering below that figure in initial negotiations.

The 26-year-old, who is under contract at the South London club, turned out to be the difference as Tottenham lost 2-0 to Oliver Glasner’s side last Sunday, scoring a brace at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. It was perhaps a kind of an audition, and Eze’s dazzling display should have pleased the club bosses.

Eze can operate on the left flank and through the middle as a No.10, and he will add creativity, pace, flair and goals to the Tottenham side. With his elusive movement, dribbling and dynamism, the ex-QPR man can split open defences that Ange’s side have struggled to breach at times this season. The versatile player has hit a purple patch in recent weeks, and it is certain that he will elevate the quality of the Tottenham squad.

That being said, however, with several clubs vying for his signature, Levy cannot pussyfoot and go for the offensive to sign Eze. Any delay could see us end up losing the exciting creative midfielder.
