This is a Tottenham predicted lineup for their Europa League semi-final clash with BodoGlimt. The English side take a strong 3-1 lead into the second leg and will have hopes of advancing to the final to try and get something out of this miserable season where they’re expected to be one of the lower finishers in the Premier League.
Guglielmo Vicario has been the starting goalkeeper of choice. The defense has been a mishmash of names to keep the main players healthy with Archie Gray, Djed Spence, Kavin Danso, and Ben Davies making up an actual back four in the league. Destiny Udogie, Micky Van de Ven, Pedro Porro, and Cristian Romero are the preferred starters there for the manager when they’re not being rested.
Yves Bissouma, Lucas Bergval, Rodrigo Bentacur, James Maddison, Gray, Dejan Kulusevski, and Pape Sarr have all been featured as part of a midfield trio. There’s been some heavy rotation in this part of the pitch with injuries not helping in that regard.
Up front, Dom Solanke, Mathys Tel, Brennan Johnson, Richarlison and Wilson Odobert have started in the absence of talismanic winger Heung-min Son.
Ange Postecoglou has been pretty strict in the use of his 4-3-3 high-intensity, high-line pressing system. The idea is to overwhelm the opposition with bodies and make it hard for them to get out of their own half but it does leave a team prone to conceding on the counter or from accurate passes into the space between the defenders and the goalkeeper.
The weaknesses of this system have been on full display with the team having just one league win since the beginning of March. They’ve suffered heavy defeats in that time like a 4-2 at the hands of Wolves and 5-1 to Liverpool. In the Europa League, the Lilywhites squeezed past AZ Alkmaar after losing the first leg before scraping past Eintracht Frankfurt after a draw in the opening fixture.
According to PremierInjuries, there are four absentees for Postecoglou to deal with and one late fitness test. Solanke is expected to be healthy for this one, but Radu Dragusin, Maddison, Son, and Bergvall are already out. Adding an additional hit to the already thin squad.
