Tottenham face off against PSG for Ilia Zabarnyi

Tottenham Hotspur have been looking to bring in a new centre-back in the ongoing summer transfer window, with Daniel Levy scraping through the target list to ascertain who is the right personnel to fit at the back, and as per the latest reports, the North Londoners are eyeing a shock move to bring in Bournemouth defender Ilia Zabarnyi to N17 this summer window.

The reports from Sky Sports reporter Luca Bendoni go on to claim that the Lilywhites would be willing to match the Cherries €70m valuation for his signatures but will face stiff competition from French giants Paris Saint-Germain for his services. That being said, the player has a clear preference in moving to the Champions League champions.

PSG are unwilling to meet financial demands for Zabarnyi

At the moment PSG are not willing to meet the financial demands of Bournemouth, and if these negotiations continue to stall, then the North Londoners could find themselves in pole position to secure his signature, assuming Daniel Levy can convince the player about the direction that the Lilywhites are taking under Thomas Frank. But as the report suggests, upcoming days would be critical in determining whether the French giants are willing to move forward on the current valuation or if Tottenham have an opportunity here.

Given that the future of Cristian Romero is still uncertain at Tottenham and even if he ends up staying this window, his attitude has been more of someone who is already looking on the outside, so this is where Daniel Levy needs to bring in someone who can end up being a long-term successor to cover any potential exits, and Zabarnyi ticks all the boxes.

Daniel Levy should be ready to pounce if there is a deal there to be done

And given that the Ukrainian is still young and has proven his credentials in the Premier League. And with Daniel Levy now showing willingness to spend, a €70m move wouldn’t be off the table if Thomas Frank ends up looking at Zabarnyi as an integral piece in his backline.

But at the moment, the ball is in PSG’s court, and Tottenham as well as Zabarnyi seem to be waiting to see if they will end up meeting the valuation that the Cherries are holding on to, but if an opportunity does arise, we do think that the North Londoners should go in aggressively to snap up his signature.
