Roberto De Zerbi looks set to become the new Tottenham boss, and we’re excited to see it blow up in their faces.

Tottenham are closing in on making former Brighton and Marseille coach Roberto De Zerbi their new manager.

After the sacking of Igor Tudor over the weekend, things have accelerated as Spurs get desperate for a new man to try and stave off relegation.

It could end up being a big hit, or an even bigger miss. It’s a massive gamble, showing what dire straits our rivals are in.

Chelsea directors played it safe with multiple De Zerbi calls

Chelsea were heavily linked with De Zerbi before appointing Mauricio Pochettino and before appointing Enzo Maresca, but in both cases went with safer options. While we’ve not agreed with many decisions our sporting directors made, we think they probably called this one correct.

De Zerbi is a coach with a lot of good ideas, but he’s also famously explosive and we can’t see him lasting long anywhere. For a club like Chelsea, trying to build long term, it never looked like a good idea.

Now we get to watch him go to Spurs and hopefully blow things up all over again…

Chelsea got rid of N’golo Kante as part of the big Clearlake clearout – and may now be regretting it a little bit.

Cesc Fabregas is a rising star in the world of management, and his Chelsea links mean we continue to feel like we’re in the picture.
