Tottenham were in the race to land Chelsea star Noni Madueke for next season

There is a clear need for Tottenham to bring in new players in the summer after the club endured a disastrous Premier League campaign. The Lilywhites need to address the problems on the pitch quickly if they want to close the gap on their rivals next season. With the North London club taking an eternity to sort out the managerial situation at N17, Spurs are already playing catch-up in the transfer market.

Club chairman Daniel Levy recently put out a bold statement suggesting that Spurs are aiming to build on the Europa League success and aiming to win more trophies. But words mean nothing now, and Levy must walk the talk now if he really means what he is saying. That will start by backing Thomas Frank in the transfer market and bringing in reinforcements.

The players struggled to perform consistently under Ange Postecoglou last season. The injury crisis at the club did not help either, and key players just did not step up when it mattered the most in domestic competitions. Most notably, it was the attacking line that failed to perform week in week out as the North London club finished the Premier League season just a pace above the relegation zone.

Tottenham set to miss out on Chelsea winger Noni Madueke

There are not a lot of positives to take from the transfer market yet for Tottenham fans. The managerial situation at N17 has caused the club to miss out on some of their intended targets. The fans have also grown frustrated with the Spurs hierarchy, as the Lilywhites are setting up Thomas Frank for failure and bottling the chance to kickstart a new era at N17.

Now, the North London club has suffered yet another setback in the market. It was reported earlier that Spurs were actively looking to sign Chelsea winger Noni Madueke for next season. The Lilywhites decided to pause the deal as they wanted to sort out the managerial situation first. But, that decision has now costed Spurs a chance to sign the England international.

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has made it clear that Madueke is a part of his plans and he does not intend to sell the winger in the summer. Speaking to the BBC journalist Nizaar Kinsella (via X) in a press conference, Maresca said,

“Noni is our player, you can read a lot of speculation at the moment but we consider Noni our player for the coming season.”

This just sums up Tottenham under Daniel Levy. The club chairman has time and again failed to back the manager at N17 and that has costed the club dearly during the season. Now, Thomas Frank is already under pressure to get positive results once the season starts, and the Dane will get criticised heavily if things start going south.

Fans can only hope that Levy comes to his senses quickly and backs Thomas Frank in the transfer market before pre-season starts. The Lilywhites have the perfect chance to start a winning culture at N17, and that can only happen if new signings are brought in and given time to adapt. The trophies will follow soon if the players are thriving in a happy environment.
