Tottenham remain contenders for the signature of Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers

It is fair to suggest that Tottenham are short of manpower up front, despite spending most of the budget on bringing in prolific attackers. The Lilywhites managed to sign Mohammed Kudus from West Ham, Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig , and Randal Kolo Muani from PSG on a permanent deal to address the issues in the final third of the pitch.

However, there is still a case to be made against the North London club for missing out on a left-winger. It was clear from the start that Spurs needed to fill in the void left behind by Heung-Min Son on the left-flank. However, the Lilywhites failed to address that, even though they entered concrete negotiations with one or two players.

Given how important wide players are to Thomas Frank, fans will hope that Daniel Levy’s incompetency does not come back to haunt the Danish tactician anytime soon. The ex-Brentford boss wants his left-wingers to cut inside and make darting runs behind the defence. Not only that, but the wide players should also thrive in the #10 position to play as a second fiddle to the striker at times while in transition.

Tottenham not giving up on signing Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers

Tottenham are already shifting their focus to the January transfer window as the club prepares to back Thomas Frank this season. The Lilywhites are aiming to build on the Europa League success this season under the Danish tactician, so addressing the issues up front will be deemed as a priority once we approach the winter transfer market.

It was reported earlier that Spurs were interested in signing Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa. The England international is versatile enough to thrive as a #10, or as a left-winger. And the Lilywhites took notice of that. However, the report also stated that Villa had no plans to lose out on the talented attacker as he is considered a key part of Unai Emery’s squad.

Now, there is a latest update on Tottenham’s pursuit of the 23-year-old. As per TEAMtalk, the Lilywhites are all set to re-emerge as serious contenders for Morgan Rogers’ signature in January. Aston Villa are expected to put up an asking price of £100m for the England international’s services. Not only that, but Spurs will also need to fend off Chelsea if they want to land the attacker midway through the season.

It goes without saying that signing Morgan Rogers would be a massive coup for the North London club. The 23-year-old has showed time and again that he can make consistent impact on the pitch. His tenacity, work ethic, and ability to drive the ball into the final third of the pitch is something that Thomas Frank is clearly missing in the team.
