Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers is facing an uncertain future as Tottenham Hotspur decide to go all in for his signature

Tottenham fans are worried that the club may not be able to find a replacement of James Maddison on time as we approach the business end of the transfer window. Not many clubs are willing to sell their best players during the latter stages of the summer as they do not have time to find a replacement. So, Daniel Levy will need to find a way to lure quality players to N17 that could bolster the depth of the squad for this season.

Thomas Frank has also called for new signings time and again, as the Danish tactician gets ready to compete hard on all four fronts this season. However, it is fair to say that the ex-Brentford boss has not been backed by Levy in the summer. But there is still some time for the Lilywhites to find a way and land new players.

There is a clear need for a new #10 after James Maddison ruptured his ACL. The England international’s untimely injury has proved to be detrimental, as Spurs do not have enough cover in that position. The lack of attacking midfielders in the squad has meant that Thomas Frank is forced to play Pape Matar Sarr in an advanced role for now.

Tottenham still trying to land Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers

One of the many names on Tottenham’s shortlist for a new #10 is Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers. The Lilywhites have enquired about the England international’s availability in recent days after missing out on Eberechi Eze. However, there is a strong belief that the Villans are not willing to part ways with Rogers anytime soon as he is considered a key part of Unai Emery’s setup at Villa Park.

Yet, Spurs are not willing to give up in their pursuit of the England international as we approach deadline day. Speaking to Football Insider, Mick Brown said:

“Morgan Rogers would be an ambitious move for Tottenham. He’s done really well at Villa so it’s no surprise there is interest in him. I’m told Tottenham have spoken to Villa about whether he might be available. Unai Emery wants to keep him; he’s one of his better players so that’s a given really.”

The ex-scout added,

“Spurs feel they can get a deal done, but if they do it certainly won’t be cheap. We know Tottenham need to replace Maddison, and they definitely see Rogers as somebody who can fill that attacking midfield role. Whether Villa will be open to a deal isn’t clear, I expect probably not, but Tottenham look like they’re going to try so we’ll see.”

Mick Brown reports that Tottenham have contacted Aston Villa to ask about Morgan Rogers’ availability. But the Villans have immediately informed the Lilywhites that a deal is not possible as Unai Emery is not willing to part ways with Rogers. The ex-scout suggests that Spurs can still get a deal done, but it will not be cheap. Brown also believes that Tottenham view the England international as James Maddison’s replacement, and will not give up on signing him until the very last day of the transfer window.

The North London club would make a huge statement if they somehow manage to land Morgan Rogers. The 23-year-old is one of the best talents in the Premier League, and he certainly made a name for himself last season at Villa Park. As per Sofascore, Rogers managed to rack up 14 goals and provide 13 assists in 54 games for the Villans. This just shows that he can make a huge impact in the final third of the pitch.
