Tottenham Hotspur are now beginning to seriously step up their preparations for success under Thomas Frank.
After the arrivals of Kota Takai and Mohammed Kudus, Spurs were trying to sign Morgan Gibbs-White from Nottingham Forest, a deal that was being delayed owing to legal complaints from their owner Evangelos Marinakis. Eventually, the deal collapsed and Gibbs-White has signed a lucrative three-year contract at Nottingham Forest, but as per reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Hotspur Way chiefs have started evaluating the England international’s alternative targets.
As far as the outgoings are concerned, Tottenham are yet to offload any of their players on permanent deals, with the squad still looking rather bloated. Thomas Frank announced a strong 29-man squad for the pre-season tour of Asia, allowing several youngsters to impress while also keeping options open in the transfer market.
He has clearly opted to blend youth with experience, naming highly regarded prospects such as Yang Min-hyeok, George Abbott, Jamie Donley, Will Lankshear, and Luka Vuskovic in his squad. Despite these talents travelling to Asia, they could all end up leaving on loan.
Yang Min-hyeok is expected to leave Spurs on loan again. He came off the bench during Tottenham’s goalless draw against Luton Town last weekend and did well. The teenage prodigy is expected to get opportunities to impress against Arsenal and Newcastle United.
Upon joining the North London club officially on January 1, 2025, the winger was loaned out to Championship club Queens Park Rangers for the second half of the season. Yang performed well at Loftus Road, scoring twice and registering an assist in 14 league games.
Now, Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham feels a return to Queens Park Rangers on loan would be best for the South Korean youngster’s development moving forward.
“With Yang, I think Tottenham could approach QPR to see if they would take him back,” John Wenham exclusively told Tottenham News.
“He was there last season, he settled in and scored a few goals. It would allow him to stay in London; he can probably still pop in to Hotspur Way three times a week to train and check in.
“So I think QPR would be the best possible move for Yang. They seemed to like him there last year, and he can play any of the forward positions.”
Yang will be keen to emulate the impact fellow South Korean Son Heung-min has made at Tottenham, but he is not quite ready for first-team football. Plus, the arrival of Mohammed Kudus, coupled with the presence of Brennan Johnson and Dejan Kulusevski already on the right, opportunities are expected to be few and far between for the youngster. Therefore, a move away beckons.
Thus, another loan move looks very much on the cards, and a return to QPR could work out well. The teenager, who can play anywhere across the front line, had settled in quickly at QPR last season and showed his qualities on and off the ball. This would give Yang the continuity and familiarity with the surroundings, allowing him to hit the ground running in the Championship.
