Tottenham have been interested in signing a Juventus talent, among the world’s best attackers right now.

Tottenham Hotspur are in dire need of a spark in attack. Despite spending heavily to reinforce the attacking unit in the summer, the Lilywhites have struggled to create chances and score goals consistently.

Thomas Frank lacks a dependable left-winger who can complement Mohammed Kudus in the final third and genuinely improves his first XI. None of Wilson Odobert, Mathys Tel or Brennan Johnson have managed to make that position their own since legendary figure Son Heung-min departed the club back in August.

Odobert and Johnson have blown more cold than hot, while despite Tel being more comfortable off the left, has been primarily used as a No.9 by Thomas Frank. Plus, Johnson has been heavily linked with a move away from Spurs lately. Whether the Welshman stays or is given the green signal to leave in January, Tottenham must recruit a wide-left attacker.

Juventus’ Kenan Yildiz has emerged as a target for Tottenham ahead of the winter transfer window. In fact, he is seen as a ‘dream name’ from a shortlist that has been created in recent weeks.

Tottenham closely monitoring situation Kenan Yildiz after appointment of new sporting director at Juventus

Regarded as one of the hottest young talents in Europe, Kenan Yildiz, considered the ‘next Alessandro del Piero‘, has been tipped to become a key player for Juventus in the years to come. After starting the campaign well, however, he has suffered a dip in form. This comes at a time when the Turkish international has been locked in talks with the Turin club over a new contract, but little progress has been made between the two parties.

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Tottenham and Chelsea are closely monitoring Yildiz’s situation as Juventus close in on the appointment of Marco Ottolini as the new sporting director. Ottolini’s formal appointment is expected to prompt negotiations with the 20-year-old over a new deal, and the situation is expected to become clear by the end of the year.

The young attacker’s priority is to stay at Juventus and continue his development. But, if his salary-hike demands to around €6million per year is not fulfilled by the Serie A giants, then he could become available on the market. Any development regarding his contract could put both Tottenham and Chelsea on red alert.

Can Tottenham lure Yildiz away from Juventus?

There is no doubting Yildiz’s talent and potential. A left-winger by trade, the Turkish starlet has also featured as a second striker this season, and this versatility adds more value to his name. He’d add pace, variety, dynamism and flair to Spurs’ attack, whilst being an upgrade on both Odobert and Johnson.

However, luring Yildiz away from Juventus remains a tall order. Until and unless there is clarity over his contract situation, the Lilywhites remain in the dark. If the imminent sporting director Marco Ottolini agrees to hand him a new deal with an improved salary, the Yildiz chapter will be closed. But if the two parties fail to come to an agreement, it would open the door for Tottenham to test Juve’s resolve with a bid in January.
