Tottenham are keen to bolster their squad in the upcoming transfer window as club aims to build on last season’s UEL success.

Tottenham need to act swiftly in the January transfer window if they are to build on last season’s Europa League success. Thomas Frank’s side have struggled to produce positive results in the Premier League, with several glaring issues within the squad hindering their progress. As a result, it is crucial that the Lilywhites address these problems during the winter window to set themselves up for a stronger second half of the campaign.

Strengthening the central midfield should be a top priority for the North Londoners. At present, Frank lacks reliable options who can consistently operate in the #8 role for Spurs. The Danish tactician has experimented with Rodrigo Bentancur, Lucas Bergvall, and Archie Gray in that position, but none of them have been able to cement their place in the side this season.

Therefore, Spurs must focus on signing a natural box-to-box midfielder in the coming weeks if they are to turn their Premier League fortunes around. They are in desperate need of a player who can influence both ends of the pitch, cover ground relentlessly, and win the ball back in the middle third.

Tottenham are keeping tabs on Sunderland star Noah Sadiki

It comes as no surprise that Tottenham are looking to strengthen their midfield options ahead of the second half of the campaign. With Yves Bissouma seemingly heading towards the exit door at N17, and other players failing to impress in the #8 role under Thomas Frank, it is clear that the Lilywhites will prioritise midfield reinforcements in the upcoming transfer window.

According to Ekrem Konur (via X), Spurs are keen on signing Sunderland midfielder Noah Sadiki in January. The Lilywhites have been impressed by the 20-year-old’s performances in the Premier League this season, as he has helped the Black Cats climb to seventh place in the league table. The DR Congo international has attracted significant interest following his standout displays under Regis Le Bris.

However, securing the youngster’s signature will not be straightforward for the North Londoners. The same journalist reports that major European clubs including Manchester United, Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund, Marseille, Benfica, and AC Milan are all competing for Sadiki. It is also worth noting that the player is currently happy at the Stadium of Light and may prefer to consider a move in the summer if the right opportunity presents itself.

Signing a player of Noah Sadiki’s calibre should be a clear priority for Spurs. The DR Congo international has adapted well to life in the Premier League, playing a key role in Sunderland’s midfield alongside Granit Xhaka. With a contract running until 2030, pricing him away from the Black Cats in the coming weeks would be a difficult task for any interested club.

Sadiki could slot seamlessly into the engine room at N17 alongside Joao Palhinha. He excels in physical duels and is an aggressive tackler, contributing significantly to defensive stability. He is also effective at retaining possession and dictating the tempo, playing progressive passes, and carrying the ball out of danger. The 20-year-old would likely thrive under Thomas Frank at N17, given the Danish tactician’s strong track record of developing young talent.
