Manchester United were always looking to get away during the mid-season international breaks, with the club having a more limited schedule this year.

The lack of European football and Domestic competitions has seen the side make the most of the mroe open weeks, without the squad suffering fatigue.

However, a major impact of the lack of more competitions is the reduced revenue, with the Champions League having been set to bring in £100 million.

As such, the club have been looking at mid-season friendlies, with the Riyadh Season Cup having been a potential opportunity for the Red Devils to go to Saudi Arabia.

The tournament would have seen them pull in around £10 million, playing against Al-Hilal and Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr.

Ultimately that didn’t come through, and instead, United have booked into Carton House, a well-regarded venue in Kildare, Ireland.

The venue has been used for a whole range of sports camps, with top teams like Real Madrid and Chelsea having attended previously.

However, The Irish News has now reported that 2024 All-Irish Gaelic Football champions Armagh have had their training camp cancelled by the preparations for Manchester United’s visit.

Armagh have used Carton House regularly for training camps, and arrived on Friday to find the pitches were already prepared for football, not Gaelic football.

When asked if the pitches could be changed, and even if the team could change them themselves, the request was denied.

As such, the Gaelic football team decided to abandon the camp, returning that day, despite having the sessions booked weeks in advance.

At this time, Carton House are yet to comment on the situation, with United due to arrive in the coming days.

The training camp is preparing them for their return to football on 13th April against Leeds United as they fight to keep hold of a Champions League place.
