Arsenal have received an encouraging fitness update on Ezri Konsa after the defender recovered from an injury scare during England’s international break.
Konsa started England’s 3-2 defeat to Spain but suffered a minor problem afterwards and was an unused substitute in the 2-0 win over Czechia. There were concerns that he might be sent home, but he remained with the squad and has now returned to full training.
England manager Thomas Tuchel confirmed that Konsa is available again ahead of the Nations League match against Croatia.
Speaking before the Croatia fixture, Tuchel said via Football London:
“It seems that Ezri Konsa is back. He did the full training today and this is of course a lot of hope for tomorrow, because he is a key player for us.”
Konsa’s return is a significant boost for both England and Arsenal. He is a key defender for Mikel Arteta’s side and has been a regular presence since joining from Aston Villa during the summer.
Arsenal will hope he comes through the Croatia match without any further problems. If he does, he should return to the Emirates in good condition for the club’s next Premier League fixture against Leeds United.
The season is still in its early stages, and Arsenal will face many demanding fixtures in the coming months. Konsa’s fitness will be important as the Gunners aim to compete on multiple fronts.
His recovery removes one immediate concern for Arteta, who will want as many senior defenders as possible available after the international break. Konsa’s experience and reliability make him an important part of Arsenal’s defensive setup.
For now, the news is positive. Konsa has avoided a serious injury, returned to training and put himself in contention to feature for England, which is encouraging for Arsenal ahead of the resumption of domestic football.
