Juventus drew 2-2 against Reggiana today in their first pre-season friendly of the summer and head coach Igor Tudor has described the match as “a good test for us” and said that his side are “working hard” ahead of the new season.
Speaking after the game, with quotes via Tuttosport, Tudor said “You could feel the intensity of the training sessions we’ve had this week – so naturally there was a lot of fatigue. Physically, as is normal at this stage, some players are a bit ahead, others are a bit behind. Today’s game was a very useful training session.”
Gleison Bremer returned to the Juventus team for the first time since the injury that left him absent for a majority of last season. Tudor was happy to have the Brazilian defender back available to him: “I’m happy to see Gleison back. Of course, it will still take some time and he will need to play matches to get back to his usual level.”
Then, the head coach described the state of the team in general: “I’m satisfied with these first few days of training. The workload has been significant and the new arrivals have settled in really well straight away. There is a great level of commitment within the squad and a real desire to do things the right way.”
Tudor used a wide range of players in today’s friendly against Reggiana, with transfer-linked Lloyd Kelly, Filip Kostic and Dusan Vlahovic all making an appearance, the latter scoring the Bianconeri’s second-goal. There were also unofficial debuts for new signings Jonathan David and Joao Mario.
Juventus’ next pre-season match is on August 10 when the Old Lady face Borussia Dortmund in Germany.
