Two Chelsea players have been on the receiving end of some big praise from The Athletic journalist Simon Johnson this morning.
It comes off the back of Chelsea drawing 1-1 with Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday afternoon, ending their losing streak and stopping a run of 7 defeats in a row in the league.
Chelsea didn’t win though, of course, so in the grand scheme of things a draw didn’t help them at all as they stay placed in 9th in the Premier League.
But the Liverpool game saw much better performances from a few Chelsea players, but of course, consistency is key.
Johnson wrote on Colwill:
‘Levi Colwill is one of the finest defenders in the country and gets the best out of Wesley Fofana, who has been underwhelming for several weeks. The duo formed a good understanding last season and they carried on from where they left off at Anfield.’
And on Caicedo, he said:
‘Chelsea are a different side when he is at the top of his game. Against Liverpool, he put in a fine all-round display. Caicedo made the most key passes of Chelsea’s players, 64 passes overall (second), four tackles (second), 80 touches (second), two dribbles (second) and two clearances (third), and he was fouled on three occasions (second).’
Chelsea are being linked with yet another attacker ahead of an important summer for the Blues as they look to strengthen the squad for yet another new manager coming in.
Andrey Santos was blamed for his slow reactions when Chelsea conceded to Liverpool at the weekend, drawing the game 1-1 in the end.
