Two clubs submit contract offers to sign Anthony Martial

Anthony Martial’s career once looked destined for the very top, but the former Manchester United forward is now searching for somewhere to start again.

His arrival at Old Trafford in 2015 felt like the beginning of something special.

Thrown into a huge game against Liverpool by Louis van Gaal, Martial glided past the defence and scored on his debut.

It was the sort of moment that immediately made supporters believe United had found their next great attacker.

There were flashes of that player for years afterwards.

Martial could drift in from the left, beat defenders without looking hurried and finish with an unusual calmness.

His best campaign came in 2019/20, when he became the focus point of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s attack and produced the most complete football of his career.

But the story gradually changed.

Injuries interrupted his rhythm, competition increased and a loan to Sevilla in 2022 failed to provide the reset he needed.

By the time Martial left United in 2024, the excitement surrounding that famous Liverpool debut felt very distant.

His career has continued moving in the wrong direction since.

A spell with AEK Athens was followed by a difficult move to Monterrey, and Martial is now without a club.

He was recently offered a potential route back to the Premier League with Everton.

However, another possibility has now emerged.

Anthony Martial receives two contract offers

According to Foot Mercato, two French Ligue 1 clubs recently submitted firm contract proposals to sign Martial.

The identities of the sides have not been revealed, although the report specifies they are neither Nice or Lens.

One is described as a club competing towards the top of the table.

Meanwhile, the other is fighting to avoid relegation.

Neither were prepared to guarantee Anthony Martial a starting position, instead viewing his experience as something that could help younger players.

Martial rejected both offers and is understood to be waiting for what he considers the right sporting project.

That decision represents another gamble.

At 30, and without competitive football since March, the player who once announced himself at Old Trafford so dramatically is now searching for the opportunity that can stop his career from fading away completely.
