Tynan Thompson has made his Manchester United debut in the pre-season friendly against Leeds United at Croke Park.
The 18-year-old was introduced at half-time with the score level at 1-1, marking his first appearance for the Red Devils since completing his summer move from Tottenham Hotspur.
Thompson only joined United from Tottenham Hotspur earlier this summer in a deal worth up to £8 million.
The Red Devils agreed to pay an initial £4 million for the highly-rated winger, with a further £4 million potentially due in add-ons linked to his senior progress.
The 18-year-old enjoyed an impressive final campaign in North London, scoring 13 goals and providing six assists across Under-18 and Under-21 football.
Seven of those goals came in just seven UEFA Youth League appearances, with his performances pushing him towards Tottenham’s senior set-up.
Thompson trained with the Spurs first team from 2025 and was named among the substitutes for Champions League fixtures against Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund, although he left without making a competitive senior appearance.
The right-footed attacker predominantly operates from the left wing and stands at 6ft 2in, giving Carrick another exciting and physically imposing option in the wide areas.
Born in Croydon, Thompson started his development with Lambeth Tigers before joining Tottenham at Under-12 level.
He has also represented England at Under-17 and Under-18 level and was part of the Spurs side that lifted the Under-17 Premier League Cup in 2025.
United have brought Thompson into the first-team environment rather than viewing him solely as an academy addition, and his introduction against Leeds provided an early indication of the pathway available to him.
His debut represents the first major milestone of his Manchester United career, just weeks after completing his move from Tottenham.
