The US women's national team finally returns to action and this Thursday will face Portugal in its first match of this round of three games. This matchup will take place at Subaru Park in Chester, Pa.
This period will be used as preparation for the 2027 Women's World Cup qualification games.
Unfortunately, the group will not be complete, as recently, Washington Spirit star Trinity Rodman suffered an MCL sprain. Sam Meza will also not be there due to a mild hamstring strain. In her place, Kansas City Current midfielder Lo'eua LaBonta was called up.
The USWNT won all of its last three matches. They defeated Ireland 4-0 on June 16 and then again 4-0 on the 29th of the same month. They won against Canada 4-0 on July 2.
Portugal, for its part, did not win any of its last three matches, which corresponded to the group stage of the UEFA European Women's Championship. They lost 0-5 against Spain on July 3, drew 1-1 against Italy on July 7, and lost 1-2 against Belgium on July 11.

Despite the tough loss of Rodman, 23, coach Hayes called up Catarina Macario again, who has performed at a good level at Chelsea. Macario has 24 caps and 11 goals.
