Valencia vs. Newcastle United Lineups, Preview

Valencia hosts Newcastle United tonight at the Estadio de Mestalla for the 54th edition of the Trofeu Taronja.

The match serves as the final high-profile preseason test for both teams as they look to fine-tune their tactics and integrate their summer signings before their respective league campaigns get underway next weekend.

The game will also mark Matthias Jaissle's managerial debut on the Newcastle United bench.

Jaissle takes charge of his first match as Newcastle's manager following Eddie Howe's departure, with the club also having lost key players Anthony Gordon, Bruno Guimarães and Sandro Tonali during the summer.

The German manager's aggressive pressing system will face an early test against a Valencia side coached by Carlos Corberán.

Valencia enters the game after a mixed preseason, with the Spanish side recording a 1-1 draw against Stoke City and a win over Derby County, while also suffering defeats to Castellón and Petro de Luanda.

Newcastle, meanwhile, will be looking to bounce back after a disappointing 4-1 defeat to Championship side Bristol City in their most recent preseason outing.
