Varane to start: predicted Manchester United line-up vs Manchester City
Yukihito Taguchi-USA TODAY Sports

Manchester United’s final and biggest game of the season is just around the corner, with Erik ten Hag looking to end a disastrous season on a high note by winning the FA Cup.

The Reds have revenge in their sights as they prepare for a repeat of last year’s FA Cup final, with their cross-city rivals winning that day at Wembley.

Last year, United went into the final game of the season with a third-place finish in the Premier League and a trophy in the bag already. This year, winning the FA Cup is merely a salvation of what has been a difficult campaign.

Victory would also see United qualify for next season’s Europa League, which must be seen as an added incentive as their league position fell short.

Ten Hag has a number of selection headaches going into the game and his squad is still plagued by neverending injury concerns.

Luke Shaw remains on the sidelines after a setback in his recovery from the injury that has kept him out of action for the last three months.

In his place, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot will take up the full-back positions, with Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane possibly taking up the central roles together one final time. Varane will be making his final appearance as a United player after he announced that he will be leaving at the end of this season.

Further up the pitch, Casemiro will be allowed to move back into his favoured midfield role, with Kobbie Mainoo partnering him.

Ahead of them, Bruno Fernandes will lead the side with Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho on either side of him, with Rasmus Hojlund leading the line.

Predicted Manchester United line-up (4-2-3-1): Onana; Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Martinez, Dalot; Casemiro, Mainoo; Garnacho, Fernandes, Rashford; Hojlund
