Manchester United had an impressive summer transfer window.

Bryan Mbuemo, Senne Lammens and Matheus Cunha have all caught the eye of the United faithful this season.

The January transfer window is less than a month away and will be plenty of focus around United’s business (if any).

There could very well be some big name outgoings rather than those coming in.

The Daily Mail have reported that neither centre-back Harry Maguire or midfielder Casemiro have received substantial offers to extend their stays at the club past the summer.

There is still time for United to offer them new deals, but with Casemiro and Maguire 33 and 32 years old respectively, there is a good chance that their deals are not renewed.

They are also both on a combined £555,000 a week and for players that are not in manager Ruben Amorim’s long-term plans, this may seal their fate with United looking to reduce their wage bill.

The club have had players on some staggering contracts in the past, most notably Alexis Sanchez.

Signed from Arsenal in a swap deal involving Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Sanchez struggled immensely at United.

In 45 total games for the club in all competitions, he recorded just five goals and nine assists whilst on a contract of between £350,000 and £400,000 a week.

Both exists would signal the ends of lengthy stays at the club.

Maguire joined United from Leicester City in August 2019 for a fee of £80 million, a club record for a defender that still stands when it comes to Great British Pounds spent.

He became a victim of the price tag and was the punching bag of many jokes from rivals fans over the years. He was appointed captain just six months into his time at the club but was later stripped of the armband in July 2023.

His form soon saw an improvement and he has scored some infamous winners.

Maguire netted the winner in their Europa League quarter-final against Olympique Lyonnais last season and back in October, he scored the deciding goal as United earned their first win at Anfield since 2016.

Meanwhile, for Casemiro, he excelled in his debut campaign after signing for £70 million but form soon dropped in years two and three.

He has returned to form this season but his time at the club may well be over.
