On Monday, September 7, the Kansas City Current announced that the team had mutually parted ways with sporting director Vlatko Andonovski. Per the team’s release, both parties “determined that Andonovski’s requested transition from coaching into the Sporting Director role at the end of last season was not the right fit.”
Andonovski became the head coach of the Kansas City Current in 2023. After leading the team to a record-breaking season in 2025, in which they won the Shield and finished with a record 21 wins and a record 65 points, he transitioned to the role of Sporting Director.
Prior to his role with the Kansas City Current, Andonovski served as the head coach of the U.S. women’s national team for four years, leading them to a bronze medal at the 2020 Olympics and a surprisingly early exit in the 2023 FIFA World Cup.
