Roberto Carlos has lauded Brazil and Manchester United duo Casemiro and Fred as players he would have enjoyed playing with during his career.
The former left-back thinks Casemiro and Fred both share a defensive mindset that can only benefit offensive players.
Speaking to Football Daily, Carlos said: “They [Fred and Casemiro] are players that have good [pitch] coverage and because I am very offensive. They are players that would cover well for me.”

Carlos’ praise comes at a time that Casemiro and Fred appear to be struggling to get into the United line-up. For instance, they are unlikely to start in Sunday’s Manchester derby.
It has come as a surprise to everyone that the biggest reason for that is Scott McTominay’s form, while Christian Eriksen has been incredible after joining on a free transfer.
The Scotland international is pulling up trees in the middle of the pitch for United and Erik ten Hag has not been given a single valid reason to drop him.
That is not to say I don’t think Casemiro will get a chance or that Fred doesn’t have a role to play this season. They will get plenty of games throughout the season.
