Egyptian star Mohamed Salah endured a miserable European night with his new club, Turkey's Trabzonspor, who slumped to a 4-0 defeat against Hungary's Ferencvaros in the second leg of their Europa League qualifying tie.

Trabzonspor had already lost the first leg on home soil by a single unanswered goal. The 4-0 reverse in Budapest left them out of the Europa League, beaten 5-0 on aggregate.

Salah started at the Groupama Arena but failed to make an impact, trudging off in the 64th minute.

Two red cards crippled the Turkish side. Ruslan Malinovskyi was dismissed in the 13th minute, and Sidnei Lopes Cabral followed him off in the 57th.

Callum O'Dowda put the hosts ahead in the 19th minute, and Marius Corbu doubled the lead in the 54th.

Ferencvaros then won a penalty in the 59th minute, which Yusuf Bamidele tucked away, before Krisztian Lisztes rounded off the rout in the 86th minute.

Trabzonspor now drop into the UEFA Conference League.
