Wayne Rooney launched a new project this week, teaming up with Mark Goldbridge for a fresh weekly look at all things Manchester United.

The pair co-host Stick to United with Wayne Rooney, a podcast forming part of Gary Neville’s The Overlap network.

Running to 50 episodes, the series promises regular debate and analysis on the club, available on Disney+.

The first episode dropped today, giving fans an early taste of the format and the dynamic between its two hosts.

Wayne Rooney used the opening episode to catch viewers up on life away from the cameras, including a rather personal update.

Wayne Rooney undergoes surgery

The United legend revealed he underwent surgery on his nose last week.

“For anyone who might’ve noticed, I had surgery on my nose last week,” Rooney said.

“I’m actually lucky I have no black eyes but I’ve got two plastic tubes up my nose which will be coming out really soon.

“I can’t wait for them to be coming out.”

Rooney explained the procedure was addressing damage caused by two separate breaks over the years, the first coming in a match against Preston while at United and the second during his time in Major League Soccer.

The second injury came in 2018, when Rooney broke his nose playing for D.C. United in a 2-1 win over the Colorado Rapids.

He’d been putting off surgery for some time, waiting for the right moment to have it done.

“This summer I thought I’d get the World Cup out the way then get it done,” he explained.

The timing has coincided with a noticeably leaner look for Rooney this summer, with fans commenting on his improved shape after a spell of gym work.

Between the podcast launch and his own personal transformation, it’s shaping up to be an eventful few weeks for the former United captain.
