We Have Another Neymar World Cup Update

Brazil fans received a massive boost ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after manager Carlo Ancelotti confirmed that Neymar Jr. will remain with the squad despite his recent injury setback. According to comments shared by transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Brazil has no plans to replace Neymar on its 26-man roster and still expects the superstar forward to play during the tournament.

That statement alone changes the entire mood around Brazil heading into the World Cup. For weeks, fears were growing that Neymar’s latest injury could potentially end his international career on a heartbreaking note before the competition even started. Instead, Brazil is betting on their legendary No. 10 recovering in time to make an impact when the tournament begins.

Ancelotti specifically mentioned that Neymar could potentially return for Brazil’s opening match against Morocco or the game immediately after. Even if he misses the first match, the message from the Brazilian camp is clear: Neymar remains central to their World Cup plans.

“We will NOT change anyone,” Ancelotti reportedly said. “The chosen players are these and I don’t change plans.”

That confidence speaks volumes about Neymar’s importance to the squad. Even at 34 years old and after years of injury struggles, Neymar is still viewed as the emotional leader and creative engine of Brazil’s attack. His experience in pressure moments is something very few nations can match entering this tournament.

Brazil already possesses one of the deepest squads in the competition with stars like Vinicius Jr., Rodrygo, Raphinha, Bruno Guimaraes, and Endrick all expected to play major roles. But Neymar brings something different. He brings fear factor, global attention, and the ability to completely change a match with one moment of brilliance.

This World Cup also feels incredibly personal for him. Brazil has not won a World Cup since 2002, and Neymar has carried the weight of trying to restore the nation back to the top for over a decade. He came painfully close in 2014 before injury ruined his tournament, suffered heartbreak in 2018, and watched Croatia eliminate Brazil in devastating fashion in 2022.

Now, with Ancelotti leading the national team and a talented supporting cast around him, this could be Neymar’s final chance to cement his legacy with the one trophy Brazil fans crave most.

The risk, of course, is obvious. If Neymar returns too early, Brazil could lose him again during the tournament. But Brazil clearly believes having a partially healthy Neymar available later in the competition is more valuable than replacing him altogether.

And honestly, it makes sense.

In World Cup football, talent wins games, but stars win moments. Neymar has spent his entire career producing moments. Brazil is hoping he has one final run left in him.
