West Bromwich Albion win automatic Premier League promotion

The Baggies are back.

While West Bromwich Albion could only secure a 2-2 draw versus Queens Park Rangers on the final day of the Championship season, Barnsley's 2-1 win over Brentford dropped Brentford to the promotion playoff and secured West Brom a berth in the 2020-21 Premier League campaign alongside Leeds United.

Barnsley's result secured their survival in the England second-tier for another year. Meanwhile, Hull City and Charlton Athletic suffered drops to League One. Wigan Athletic has also been relegated due to a 12-point penalty enforced after Wigan became the first English club to enter into administration amid the coronavirus pandemic:

Wigan will only remain in the Championship if they win a July 31 appeal. The Latics responded to their fate via Twitter:

The playoffs for the final berth into the Premier League will begin:

Brentford vs. Swansea City

Fulham vs. Cardiff City
