Tottenham-linked Jarrod Bowen addresses rumours about his future at West Ham United

Tottenham Hotspur need to bring in attacking reinforcements in the summer to improve the quality of the front line.

The North London outfit have struggled to unlock rigid defences multiple times this past season, thereby, losing several games by small margins. It is clear to see that a major squad overhaul is needed in the summer and new signings are needed to aim for a better domestic campaign next term.

Dominic Solanke, signed in a club-record deal from Bournemouth last year, has had an up-and-down debut season at N17. Perhaps, the Englishman could do with more competition and cover next season, with the likes of Richarlison and Timo Werner royally failing to provide that. This has led to the Lilywhites being linked with multiple forwards in recent weeks and months. One of those has been West Ham United star Jarrod Bowen.

Jarrod Bowen scored and assisted on the final day of the Premier League season, as West Ham beat relegated Ipswich Town 3-1 at the Portman Road. With that, he took his campaign’s tally to 13 goals and 10 assists in 34 Premier League games.

The England international has been a consistent source of goals for the Hammers ever since arriving from Hull City in January 2020. He has delivered 74 goals and 51 assists in 238 games for West Ham thus far, demonstrating his class and quality with great poise. And on the final day of the season on Sunday, Jarrod Bowen has addressed transfer speculation surrounding him. While he made it clear he has no intention of leaving, the forward admitted the final decision rests with the board.

“You score a couple of goals, transfer window comes around the corner and people are interested in you,” Bowen told BBC Sport.

“I have been linked a few times in different transfer windows when I have had good seasons. I have been here for five, five and a half years now and I have got good numbers in goals and assists so I think that is always going to come.

“This is the first season where we have had no Europe and we have been really poor in the league position, so talk is going to happen. But for me, unless the club turned around and said they were selling me then I won’t be going anywhere.”

Tottenham will be playing in the Champions League next season after winning the Europa League in Bilbao. This gives them a great opportunity to attract top talents from Premier League and different leagues across Europe to bolster their squad. Daniel Levy must target Premier League proven commodities more as compared to players from other leagues if the North Londoners intend to challenge for higher positions next term.

The Hotspur Way chiefs are understood to see Bowen as a player could strengthen the squad’s forward options. A proven goalscorer would immensely enhance the squad, whilst his ability to play both centrally and out wide bodes well. The England international could be attracted to move across the capital and play in the Champions League, as he enters the peak years of his career.
