Following Fulham vs Sunderland at Craven Cottage on Saturday, where the home side secured a 1-0 victory and a scuffle broke out at the final whistle, we take a look at what the managers, pundits, and players have said.

What Has Been Said Following Fulham vs Sunderland

Marco Silva: “We Deserved the Points”

Fulham boss Marco Silva believes his side deserved the points on Saturday. He said: “Clearly, we deserved the three points. It was a good performance from us. We scored a late goal, but we should have scored much earlier in the game. We knew that we should have responded in a different way this afternoon with our fans. We did that for us and for them, and we did it.

“We did it, controlling almost all the moments of the game, creating enough chances, three or four clear chances in the first half to score in the game.

“Apart from one moment in the first half, in a good combination on their right-hand side, we didn’t give nothing for them.”

Regis Le Bris: “We Were Not Proactive”

Sunderland Regis Le Bris was not impressed with his players. He said:  “We faced a good team, as expected, because they were really good a few weeks ago against Arsenal, for example, so it was really clear that they have this offensive threat, this ability to create chances, to be dominant with the ball.

“I think we managed just okay on this part during the first half. We are not proactive enough to change and shift the momentum, but we tried during half-time to change this part.

“We had our opportunity, I think, just during the first part of the second half. I think we felt that it was possible to change something, but it wasn’t enough.”

Regis Le Bris on End of Game Scuffle

The Sunderland manager was not impressed with what happened after the final whistle and told his players what he thought. He said: “I told the players I don’t like the fighting at the end. If you still have energy in your tank, it means that before we didn’t push hard enough. For me, it’s not a positive situation.”

Trai Hume’s Honest Assessment

Sunderland fullback Trai Hume did not hold back on his assessment of the game. The Northern Ireland international said: “I think overall, we know we can be better throughout the whole 90 minutes.

“They created a lot of chances, the kind of chances that we don’t usually give away. I think we know we can do better, so we have to go again next Saturday. It’s disappointing to concede how we did. Personally, I think the free kick that was given was not a free kick. That’s offset us, they’ve taken it quickly, it’s a great ball in, and the striker has got a foot to it.

“We’re disappointed, but if we’re being honest, they had a lot of chances, and if you give that many away, you’re probably going to concede one. I thought the decisions were soft throughout the game.”

Rob Green: “They Are a Really Good Side”

Former England goalkeeper Rob Green said he was impressed by Fulham. He said: “You look at it when Fulham take the game by the scruff of the neck and they really are aggressive with the ball and aggressive in their attitude and getting numbers forward, getting wide and they get the options there, they’re a really good side.”

Alex Iwobi:  “We Have Belief”

Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi believes that he and his teammates can perform well against anybody. He said:  “Our home form has been really good. They’re a tough side and they’ve been doing really well, but we have the belief that we can perform against anyone.

“We don’t fear anyone in the league. We give our respect to Sunderland. But now it’s all about consistency for us to go and get the results we need.”

Granit Xhaka’s Message

Taking to Instagram after the game, Sunderland captain Granit Xhaka said: “Defeats always hurt; now it is about learning from them and moving forward together.”
