Milan have a slim chance of reaching the next stage of the Champions League, requiring a specific combination of results in Group F.
The Rossoneri have disappointed on the European stage this term, winning just once in their five previous outings. Their campaign started with goalless draws against Newcastle United and Borussia Dortmund, before they fell 3-0 to Paris Saint-Germain.
Milan looked positive in their return leg against PSG, picking up a 2-1 win, but their 3-1 defeat to Dortmund at the end of last month left them in a difficult spot. Now, with one match left to play, the Rossoneri sit tied at the bottom of their group.
Milan and Newcastle have both picked up five points in Group F, two less than PSG and five less than Dortmund. As such, Stefano Pioli’s side would need to beat the Magpies and hope the Parisians suffer defeat in Germany in order to qualify for the Round of 16.
Losing out on a spot in the knockout stages of the Champions League would cost the Rossoneri upwards of €90m in potential revenue.
