It’s fair to say that Celtic has been out of sorts over these past few games, indeed we are without a win in our last three outings, scoring the grand total of one goal, and none in our last two matches. This time last season Celtic were scoring for fun but as we all know so many goals have been taken out of the team with the sales of Kyogo, Nicolas Kuhn and Adam Idah.
There are however some promising signs at the team has been creating chances, with only a combination of poor finishing, good goalkeeping and a bizarre VAR call denying us a well deserved goal. They say goals are like buses, you wait ages for one, and two come along at the same time, or hopefully in our case four or five.
The supporters are frustrated, some even angry at the substandard performances, this season and lack of goal threat the players are producing at this moment in time on the park, with hopefully the feeling being very mutual in the players case.
I’d like to think that they do, which makes Celtic a very dangerous animal heading into our next game which is of course against Motherwell who visit Celtic Park tomorrow afternoon. Someone is going to be on the end of a hiding when the side starts to click, and releases all that vent up frustration. Hopefully it’s the Steelmen who feel that wrath tomorrow.
They’ll come looking to copy the Hibs and Karat plan to park the bus and hope for something on the break. Talk from their manager during the week of coming to have a go at Celtic is unlikely to amount to much in terms of their actual game-plan and as Celtic has struggled to get the better of teams adopting this approach this season, it seems a sensible way for Motherwell to approach the game.
The key for Celtic is a fast start and an early goal. Hopefully there’s a format change and a few changes to the starting line-up too with Sinisalo having the gloves and maybe McCowan getting a start in the middle of the park.
Celtic need the three points and the confidence boost that the victory will bring going into the international break,
