Lamine Yamal made headlines earlier this week after celebrating his 18th birthday with a controversial party. At first, everything seemed normal—until reports revealed that the Barcelona star hired dwarfs as part of the entertainment, an act considered illegal in Spain under anti-discrimination laws. A new person entered the subject now.
Now, his reputation is on the line. Yamal, who was one of the standout players in European soccer last season, played a key role in Barcelona’s La Liga dominance and helped the club reach the UEFA Champions League semifinals for the first time since 2018/19. After spending part of his vacation in Brazil alongside Neymar, the young talent returned home to celebrate his milestone birthday—only to find himself back in the headlines for all the wrong reasons.
Yamal’s birthday bash took place on July 12, reportedly aboard a private yacht that was kept secret until the last minute. According to Spanish media, the model Claudia Calvo said she was approached by the organizers—not just to attend, but to help recruit 12 women with specific physical characteristics. She refused after feeling uncomfortable with the type of request.
The Spanish outlet Extra attributed Claudia to some quotes that, later, the model justified and apologize if her words were misinterpreted. According to the model, the organizers were looking for woman's with specific physical features, and offering '$17,500 for 24 hours' - plus a credit car to use during the celebration.
"I want to make it clear, officially, that I have only spoken about what I was personally informed of. At no point have I spoken about or mentioned anyone in connection with these accusations. Everything remains alleged, as there is no conclusive evidence or tangible proof. I apologize if my statement has been misinterpreted." - Claudia said on Instagram.

They were asking for blonde women with very specific chest dimensions. We couldn't take our phones." pic.twitter.com/Fa2NZN69mh

So far, Barcelona hasn’t released any official statement about Yamal’s birthday controversy. Clubs usually avoid interfering in players' personal matters unless the situation directly affects the club’s image or breaches internal codes of conduct.
However, given the media attention and the legal investigation now in motion, it wouldn’t be surprising if Barcelona steps in quietly, either advising Yamal behind the scenes or addressing the matter publicly if pressure mounts. His status as a key player and public figure might push the club to act to protect its reputation—especially with the new season approaching.
Spain’s Ministry for Social Rights officially asked the Public Prosecutor, the Ombudsman, and anti-hate crime units to investigate if Yamal’s birthday party broke disability laws—mainly for hiring dwarfs as part of the entertainment.
