At just 18 years old, the young Englishman was expected to make a move to Europe, with his eyes on Germany. This would’ve seen him follow in the footsteps of other English prospects like Jude Bellingham, Jadon Sancho, and most recently Jobe Bellingham.

As per the Chelsea Spot, the youngster was actually on the verge of a move to Bayern Munich. The fact the German giants were interested in the player is a pretty good indicator of his talent level. They weren’t going to let him fall into the laps of either RB Leipzig or Borussia Dortmund who are more known for developing talents.

An Earned Reputation

Despite not featuring at senior levels, Derry has been impressive at youth levels for both club and country. He has been playing in the U18 Premier League where he notched an impressive 19 goals and 4 assists in 23 appearances despite playing on the flanks.

He played and scored at youth levels for England before moving up to the U19 squad early in November of 2024. He was part of the squad at the 2025 Under-19 Euros which crashed out in the group stage in rather dismal fashion.

Derry can hold his head high as he did nab two goals for himself in the group stage. The 2007-born talent has time to mature and grow as he moves up to higher age groups after dazzling against U18 talents at club level and international level.
