Why Is Alisson Becker Not Playing Tonight for Liverpool vs Manchester City?

Liverpool will be playing against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium for the FA Cup quarterfinals.

Liverpool will have a strong squad for the match against Manchester City, with Alexander Isak back in the squad after recovering from an injury he suffered in the match against Tottenham Hotspur.

Isak's last appearance for Liverpool was on December 20, 2026, against Spurs in the Premier League. Mohamed Salah also returns from injury, but Liverpool will be without Alisson Becker, their first-choice goalkeeper.

Alisson suffered an injury days before Liverpool's previous match, which was against Brighton in the Premier League.

The Brazilian goalkeeper's last appearance for Liverpool was in the second leg of the Champions League Round of 16 match against Galatasaray at Anfield.

Arne Slot confirmed that Alisson Becker will miss the match against Manchester City since he has not yet recovered from his injury.

When Will Alisson Becker Return From Injury?

Arne Slot was asked about the injuries at Liverpool, and the manager gave an update on Alisson Becker, who is expected to be out for the next few weeks.

Slot's comments concerned fans as he stated, "Ali isn't [back]... Yeah, he will not be part of the Paris Saint-Germain game either - [he will be] out for a bit longer. Towards the end of the season, we expect him to be fit."

Alisson Becker confirmed to be out for the next few weeks, but assured that his injury isn't major.

The Brazilian keeper wrote, "I didn't suffer a new injury. I'm in the treatment phase, and the plan is to be in full playing condition by the end of April!"
