The second leg of the Champions League between Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich is just around the corner.

The first leg was a punch-for-punch battle, and Wednesday’s match is not expected to be any different.

The side managed by Luis Enrique struggled physically in the first match, with several players suffering cramps in the final stages.

However, PSG secured a 5–4 victory and now hopes to achieve a positive result in the second leg.

Although the victory was crucial, the Parisian side lost a key player in its tactical setup, who will not be available against the Bavarians.

Why is Hakimi Not Playing Against Bayern Munich Tonight?

And yes, the player Luis Enrique will not have available for this clash is Moroccan right-back Achraf Hakimi.

The 27-year-old player suffered a muscle injury (tear) in his right thigh during the final minutes of the first leg.

The injury occurred when Hakimi was shielding the ball. As he attempted to spin away from a Bayern Munich player, he experienced a sudden, sharp pain in his right leg, forcing him to leave the match immediately.

Paris Saint-Germain confirmed that Achraf Hakimi will not return to the pitch for the remainder of the season, and his participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States is in doubt.

According to the club’s official statement, “He will remain under treatment during the next few weeks.” Typically, a right thigh tear requires three to four weeks of recovery.

The full-back played 31 matches, scoring three goals and providing nine assists.

Even though the numbers may not show it, Hakimi is a fundamental piece for Luis Enrique, and his absence is a sensitive issue that the Spanish coach will have to be careful replacing, since on that side is Luis Diaz, a winger who causes problems with his speed and skills.
