Why Is Lamine Yamal Not Playing Tonight for Barcelona vs Sevilla?

FC Barcelona is in need to respond in La Liga following Real Madrid's win last night over Elche.

Barcelona will host Sevilla today at the Spotify Camp Nou, and a win can put them four points clear of Real Madrid in the league table. FC Barcelona manager Hansi Flick hinted at rotating his team for this match, and the official lineup confirms that decision.

Flick has made a few changes in the lineup, but one big change is the absence of Lamine Yamal in the starting eleven.

Yamal played mid-week for FC Barcelona in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 match against Newcastle United, where he scored a penalty kick in the last minute to tie the game 1-1.

Yamal played the full match against Newcastle United, but reports from Spain confirmed that the Spanish winger missed a training session, suggesting that he had a discomfort.

Is Lamine Yamal Injured?

Lamine Yamal is not injured and is part of the FC Barcelona squad for the match against Sevilla. Yamal is on the bench and could get minutes today against Sevilla.

Yamal's replacement in the starting lineup will be Roony Bardghji, who will play as the right winger today.

Yamal returned to team training yesterday, and the reason for the player to be benched is likely due to rest and to avoid any risk of injury ahead of the second leg against Newcastle United in the Champions League, which will be played at the Camp Nou on Wednesday.
