Liverpool travel to Villa Park on Friday night for an important Premier Leagueclash against Aston Villa as both sides continue their push for a top-four finish.

Arne Slot’s side come into the match after dropping points against Chelsea, while Unai Emery’s Villa are looking to build momentum ahead of their Europa League final later this month.

In squad news, Mohamed Salah has returned to the Liverpool squad after missing recent matches with a hamstring injury.

While the Egyptian forward is not fit enough to start against Aston Villa, Arne Slot confirmed before kickoff that Salah is available again and could feature for a few minutes off the bench.

Why is Mohamed Salah not playing against Aston Villa?

Salah is not starting tonight because he is still recovering from the hamstring problem that forced him off during Liverpool’s win over Crystal Palace last month.

The injury kept him out of Liverpool’s previous two matches, with the club taking a cautious approach during his recovery.

Ahead of the Villa game, Slot confirmed that Salah had returned to the squad but would only be available for limited minutes off the bench.

The Liverpool manager explained that the winger is not yet ready to start after missing training earlier in the week. Slot also said Salah would be fit for a “cameo” appearance rather than a full match.

Liverpool’s confirmed lineup against Aston Villa sees Alisson start in goal, with Joe Gomez, Ibrahima Konaté, Virgil van Dijk and Milos Kerkez making up the back four.

Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister and Curtis Jones start in midfield, while Rio Ngumoha, Cody Gakpo and Dominik Szoboszlai lead the attack. Mohamed Salah is named on the bench as he continues his recovery from a hamstring injury.
